Stepstone House was established in 2019 to provide transitional housing to refugee claimants and newcomers in the City of Ottawa. The home provides shelter, food, settlement support and integration information to refugee claimants and newcomers while they pursue the necessary processes with immigration, legal aid and Ontario Works.
Stepstone steps up to make that initial transition smooth and manageable. Residents are required to stay for only three – six months, a period within which we expect to have assimilated the refugee claimants and newcomers in the community and helped them find more permanent and longer term housing.
Stepstone House is not funded by any agency, we depend on the support of the community to provide services. You are therefore welcome to contact us if you wish to support this worthy cause.
